I would say if it's and old system having galvanized piping it would be that the pipes need to be changed. And if so I would personally recommend Copper piping since it's inception of copper creation. Products made of this material have lasted hundreds in if not longer. Unfortunately, I am not saying that a water piping system made of copper material. Will last as long but my point is that it has been a Proven fact that metal or rather Copper piping can last 50 to 70 years. I use to install plastic piping in homes when I worked for contractors.
